With video originating in either Standard Definition or High Definition, AgileVision's product technology represents a complete rethinking of the DTV transmission chain and the associated equipment requirements. This integrated technology can seamlessly insert Datacasting services data, PSIP (on-screen program guide) data, EAS (emergency alert system) data, local station branding (logos), and commercial or interstitial material into multiple ATSC compliant 19.39 compressed DTV program feeds without having to first decompress, splice and then recompress prior to transmission. Due to modular, software based, proprietary MPEG-2 algorithms, we are also challenging the previous paradigm that in order to achieve the desired picture quality during picture manipulation insertion, edits, etc.), the broadcaster's MPEG transmission signal had to be at the Contribution (45Mbps) level. Enhancements will include multi-channel outputs, advanced PSIP capabilities, error monitoring, multi-program splicing, input encoding, transcoding, format conversion, & IP multicasting. We will cover issues & solutions dealing with real-time ATSC MPEG manipulation (splicing, logo insertion, data injection), as well as the interaction and synergy between video format conversion and MPEG-2 compression.
Jerry Berger, Vice President of Marketing for AgileVision, has more than 25 years experience in the Television & Electronics industry. Most recently, Jerry was the General Manager for the Automation & Transmission division of Sony Electronics, Broadcast & Professional group. There he was responsible for all of Sony's Video File Servers, Routing Switchers & MPEG 2 CODECS. Jerry also held senior management posts in its' Industrial Camera Division, and the Broadcast & Distribution Sales Channels. Prior to Joining Sony in 1990, Jerry was the Manager of Post Production & Digital Graphics for NBC Network in New York. Jerry has also held various management positions with Modern VideoFilm & A.M.E. in Los Angeles. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the City University of New York in Television Production.
